Startuping schoolgirls and boys

The last weekend an interesting event took place in Kraków - a competition for startups and prestartups. Naturally, startup contest isn’t nothing exceptional as there are several similar initiatives every month in Kraków. Notable was a group of participants - pupils (mainly high schoolboys and girls). In my opinion, more events for them should be organised and the creator of the event, foundation Kraków Miastem Startupów (ang. Cracow City for Startups), attempted to fill the existing gap.

Why is is important? Due to many reasons. First of all, pupils are smart, creative and full of energy. Second, in close future they will be creating the engine of modern economy. Third, Polish education system is too theoretical and practice is always advantageous.

I was in jury and listened to some really good ideas - exactly there were eight presentations.
Two of them would like to fix present job market. Especially, Talent Network plans to close the distance between studies, expectations of students and desired employees.
Smart IoT devices based almost on craftsmanship are on rise too. We, potential customers, want pretty, ecological, customised and durable presents or even key boxes. I believe we are able to afford them.
The last one to be mentioned is an app for cooking. Another app on the market - who needs that? you could ask. I wouldn’t be convinced too, except it combines cooking recipes with potential diets. According to founders of TAST, there is still space for it on the market as competitors focus only on one of areas. The marketing of the app will be though a huge challenge as app stores aren’t friendly environments.

I look forward to next similar initiatives.
